D.C. Trip Day 1

It was a beautiful but hot day a couple of weeks ago and we loaded up the car and Mamaw, Papaw, Olivia & Sarah headed to Washington D.C. for some sightseeing. Ben had to work the first day but will be joining us tomorrow :) Olivia ready to go with her shades and Pumas...

We made it to the "Hotel Harrington", the oldest working hotel in D.C. It was just as the reviews said...dated but clean and great for walking to everything! Not where you want to go if you are looking for a luxury sleeping arrangement but just what we needed for lots of sightseeing...

First stop...the White House

We passed a refreshing looking water fountain that the birds were enjoying. We had to stop to watch and Olivia loved it!...who needs monuments and museums!Deciding where to go next...we saw a neat looking statue in the distance and headed that way...

This was supposed to be a picture but the camera was on video but it was the only time Olivia sat still!

It was so hot! And only getting hotter! So we decided it was time to head to a museum...

First stop...the Museum of National History...

This was the history of transportation...Santa Cruz...sure it's a nice looking railway car but it's a great guitar!

We closed out the museum and stopped for a break and a snack...

We decided a snack wasn't enough and headed out for some food...We ventured to the Natural History Museum's Cafe so we didn't go extinct...lol :)

We closed out that museum too but will have to go back on another trip...we didn't even get to all the mammals which Olivia will love!

It was a full, hot, tiring and fun day so we decided it was time to head back to the hotel for some dinner and rest.
